Pebeo Ceramic Paint

Pebeo Ceramic Paint Painting is magic with Pébéo Ceramic paint and its opaque and brilliant colours. They can be used to achieve marvellous effects with the bath technique or with a brush on your chosen object.

Pébéo Ceramic colours are ideal on ceramic, earthenware, stoneware, glass. Porous bases must be sealed with a Pébéo Filler Undercoat before colours are applied in order to maximize the brilliance.

On rounded surfaces, do not overload, to avoid runs. Ceramic colours can be applied with brush, sponge, screen, bath... A sufficiently thick layer of colour can be combined with other material like sand or engraved with a stick.

Objects painted with Ceramic colours are for decorative use only.

Do I have to prepare the surface to be painted ?

Yes. Degrease smooth surfaces with soapy water or alcohol. Lightly sand rough surfaces to equalize them. Apply the Ceramic filler undercoat on porous surfaces, wait 24 hours before painting.

How can I correct an error ?

If colours are wet, use a cotton swab soaked in Ceramic/Vitrail thinner; if they are dry, delicately scrape them with a rasor blade.

Do I have to bake the finished decorated piece ?

No, not at all. Ceramic colours do not need baking. When dry, they form a tough film; decorations resist to scratching and light washing without soaking.

How can I lighten a colour ?

To lighten a colour use the Ceramic clear glaze, which fluidifies the colour without diminishing its qualities.

Can I eat in objects decorated with Pebeo Ceramic Paint colours ?

No. These colours are designed for decorative use only.

How can I fluidify thickened colours ?

Add some Ceramic/Vitrail thinner and stir carefully.

What other products can I use Pebeo Ceramic Paint with ?

You can play with contrasts between transparency and opacity and use Pébéo Vitrail and Relief outliners together with Ceramic colours.

What is the bath technique ?

Bath technique allows marbling effects. Pour a few drops of different colours into a small bath full of water; delicate effects are obtained using a wooden stick. The colours are transferred by placing your object on the coloured surface.
